Amazing 3D great product! This was exactly what I wanted a well done 3D movie with lots of fun effects. As far as the product itself goes I couldn't be happier! The quality of the movie acting script etc. is definitely not top tier though so don't go in expecting a 5 star movie.
Good if your'e looking for 3D content The movie is ok on it's own merits but what made it appealing was the 3D. After getting a 3D TV at the end of last year I was starved for 3D content. This was a fun movie but I wouldn't call it a cinematic masterpiece. If you're not too critical and just looking for a fun 3D movie with some cool special effects this is it.
Enjoyable I usually don't like video game films. That being said the Resident Evil film series has been a lot of fun for me though. Afterlife DID confuse me a bit though in that something seemed to be missing in the transition from Apocalypse. Actually this has sort of been a problem all along with the series for me. If you don't play video games and I don't there will be some disorientation going from one film to the next. Anyway I enjoyed the visuals of the burning and abandoned city and the humongous prison citadel in the middle of it. The action was nonstop and kept my attentionI was never bored. My ONLY complaint is that they could have kept Kacey Barnfield on screen for much much longer than they did.
Entertainment with a Quick Delivery It was a very entertaining movie as I expected from the Resident Evil franchise. I really enjoyed the little behind the scenes and featurettes extras in particular. GoHastings price and delivery was incredible each time I've ordered from them I've been impressed and this order was no exception.
Tied in First Place. In my opinion this movie is a tie for first place along with Journey to the Center of the Earth for the best looking live action 3D movies. Swords. Bullets hugh axes how could it get any better.
big resident evil fan. . . . But this sucked. Too much matrixlike movements the zombie mouths opened like in AVP the aliens that breeded with predator and basically boring story line. I didn't enjoy this as much as the previous movies.
Resident Evil kicks ass!! Finally got this on BluRay for $10 today at a video store that was closing. I loved this one better than 2 by far and beats 3 to a pulp.
slick action but not filling enough. depressing after first 8 minutes I've never played the RE video games but watched this out of simple curiosity. The first 8 minutes was completely riveting and stylish. But after Alice left Tokyo the plot and cinematography bored me to death.I just kept waiting for something to really happen but was sorely disappointed. The ending was a letdown and I can't recommend this at all.
This is making me so happy for the 5th and 6th. This Resident evil movie really is keeping the series going for me. Even with bad guys from Resident Evil five. And to top it off they brought Chris Redfield into the movie so maybe there is a chance we could see him again along side his sister in Resident Evil five or Six. I read the review for Resident Evil five and it said Leon will be in it. And from what we see and the end credits on this movie yes the only and only Jill Valintine makes an appearance. Im so exited.
Good movie I love the series. The condition of the movie is good. Price is fair. looking forward to the next one.

FIFTYNINE DOLLARS!!!????? Sorry but this rating is for the outrageous price Amazon is selling this for $59.95 in the USA as of the writing of this review. Just a few weeks ago it was selling for $35.95WTF???!!!!! My best investment was to purchase a multiregion Oppo brand Bluray 3D player IT PLAYS EVERYTHING!!So I bought this SAW FINAL CHAPTER Bluray 3D version from the Amazon.co.uk site for £7.00GBP that's about $10.92USD. The 3D is great! If you like 3D? EXPAND YOUR VIEWING/PURCHASE OPTIONS like I did and I'm sure you'll be happy to find other savings like SANCTUM 3D for £7.99 THE HOLE for £8.99 and PIRANHA 3D for £4.
A Sad End What makes the Saw movies interesting aren't the traps or gore but Tobin Bell's Jigsaw. The moral complexity. The questions of what a person will do to survive. It was a kind gross out vigilante horror film and it worked. Saw The Final Chapter loses that little complexity that the franchise has and lacks any coherent story. There are no clever tricks in the narrative no real gotcha moment that were present in earlier entries of this series. It's simply gave in to being torture porn and that's all you get. Trap after trap that can't be beaten each one grosser than its predecessor. The films were never genius filmmaking but there was always a subversive sense of fun in Jigsaw's traps being a kind vigilante justice. With that gone all that's left is the morbid effects. Effects don't make a movie and as a movie this is a lousy one. Even hardcore fans should be wary. There's nothing here worth watching.
love the franchise I had to complete my collection and finish the story but I really wish jigsaw was on more of the movies.
sorry to see it end sawthe final chapter is the last in the saw series. if you are a collector like i am this is a must have for your collection.
good Great deliverygood flick ties up the saw franchise but a little cheesy could have been better but otherwise decent flick. but personally i like better all the ones before this.
When it all is said and done The Finale I can't say I didn't enjoy it. And any fan who has a love for the traps won't be disappointed by the ones the main character/group has to go through. For those who like Saw for it's perfectly unflawed linear storyline. This movie might get under your skin. Only one scene really picks at the linear timeline but if you can work yourself to get over it or even find a way for it to make sense in your head then there's nothing to worry about.Saw The Final Chapter a decent ending to the incredible franchise that originally started with a vision that James Wan & Leigh Whannell had all those years ago.
not so much a final piece but broken into ridiculous pieces The saw movies have never been grade A entertainment but I swear they only get worse and worse. Bobby Dagen is abducted with his wife and friends and forced to play a mortal game to save himself and his beloved wife.
Great but too many sequels I am not a horror fan. I hate blood guts and gore. The reason Saw appealed to me and the reason I watched it all the way through to the end is because of the psychological aspect. This review will be for the series as a whole as each individual movie does not deserve 5 stars. The quality fluctuated among the movies and this last one was probably not the best. The first Saw was probably the best one although that is usually the case when a movie goes on and on for ten years. I was absolutely fascinated at Jigsaw's idea of teaching his victims a lesson. He was going about it the wrong way of course by torturing them but it was still fascinating. And even if the first was the highest quality the fifth was my personal favorite. Jigsaw and the movie attacking the insurance industry was just so amazing. Here were my problems1. You simply cannot orchestrate killing so many people after you are dead. No one is that good at planning ahead. That right there is the best reason for not having so many sequels.2. Jigsaw's victims are so grateful for the lessons they learned that they turn around and help him in his quest to teach others lessons. That is gruesome murder. That is believable ONCE. How many times did it happen by movie 7? Four?3. How does Jigsaw have all these huge empty warehouses that he can fill will all these huge traps that the police do not know about? Is he a billionaire or what?4. The traps would never work that perfectly like clockwork the way that they do. Just the fact that the TV screens always pop on with Jigsaw's message the exact second the victim wakes up is highly unlikely.
This is where the Saw series goes completely down the drain ! From the pink blood to the horrible 3D this movies just plain sucks and let's not forget about the bad acting! Hopefully they finally get it now and just quit with this series like they should of done after the third one. I gave out 2 stars just for the comedy though I don't think it was intentional.
Very Bland Movie to End the series I'm a big fan of the first three Saw films but they could have really stopped at the third one because of the rest of the franchise heavily relied on flashbacks so that Tobin Bell could be a part of all the films. So for four films straight we have to get the backstory of Jigsaw and tie up any loose ends from the six previous films. If they knew they were going to use Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith for these films then should have kept them alive and not kill them off so early.Saw VII was bad not the worst in the franchise but very bad nonetheless and opens up the possibility of an 8th film if they so decide to do so. That's why End is in quotation marks in my title. The first trap in the film made no sense as they aren't connected to anything or anyone in this film and these traps are mostly done in private areas and never explained why this one is made public for everyone to see who was walking by that day. The trap just didn't make sense. The first trap is basically for the added gore.

Piranha Blu ray 3D Elisabeth Shue Sucked!

Piranha [Blu-ray 3D]
Piranha [Blu-ray 3D] Read more...

Belongs on the list of camp classics Director Alexandre Aja High Tension sets out to make a stupid schlocky satirical send off to all those creature movies we have seen over the years. What makes it successful it that it never takes itself seriously but also plays it straight unlike the other spoofs of recent films. The movie also has bucketsoblood severed limbs cool fish and babes in bikinisand less. It's also in very effective 3D and was even originally shot that way. In fact the best 3D shot ever is right here in this movie. Two grade 10 beauties skinny dip together under water while holding their breath for at least 5 minutes. What an effective use of technology. This movie is an unexpected gem.The film looks good in Blu ray 2D as well. Nothing special as far as extras. Some deleted scenes commentaries and storyboards etc.
It's okay for what it is. The box says Jaws meets girls gone wild but it's not a suspense movie which Jaws is. The most it has in common with Jaws is that it features man eating fish. It's campy horror with some decent gore clips.Girls gone wild is about right for the nudity. Mostly quick flashes which is fine but I preferred the more Playboy style scene with Kelly Brook & the blonde under water. Kelly Brook does look fine in this movie but Survival Island is better if you are a fan of hers.I enjoyed it for what it was. I'd either call it 3 or 4 stars 3 1/2 if amazon allowed it which is the average right now. I ultimately went with 3 stars because the part where they use a distraction to rig explosives takes forever & the whole rest of the movie suggests the distraction used would only last a few minutes if that. Epic fail if it were a serious movie passable plot device in a campy movie I suppose. The way they leave it open for a sequel seemed about stupid to me at 1st but once again it wasn't meant to be that serious.Just keep thinking campy throwback & you'll pretty much know if you want to see it or not. I'd say worth a rental or used price.
Good movie Better than I thought it would be. Had some very funny bits. Well done for what it is. Happy with it.
Piranha Bluray 3D That was the worst movie I have ever seen.I think I will use the DVD as a target. It does NOT rate even 1 star.
We're gonna need a bigger boat. If you are looking for a horror movie that will rock your socks off Piranha 3D is where it's at. Total gore fest smoking hot girls the whole movie the 3D was fun.
Sucked! There's not to much else to say about this movie other than it really sucked. The 3D wasn't all that great and the CGI piranha looked horrible. The acting wasn't all that great either. Good I hope Piranha 3DD has a little more to offer but by the looks of the trailer I strongly doubt it.
Nice old style B horror gory type movie. Only get this if you realize this is nothing on the level of Jaws and more of a gory campy B type movie. If your looking for Jaws this is not it but if your looking for a decent gory type movie that takes place in the water it hits the mark. For my taste this is perfect for me and I really enjoyed it.The 3D was good its not IMAX stunning but it adds to the movie.
There is 2D movie in 3D Bluray disc Ha ha ha ha.not even a single effect which makes you feel like something is coming out of screen yes i do have good 3D setup.
Good Movie Bought the movie for my kids' they love this movie about the big fish. Don't know the fascination but they like it. Shipper was very quick even from Canada.
Enjoyed Piranha 3D BUT Piranha 3D is a very simple movie boobs alcohol parting and piranha's pretty simple formula here that harkens back to the good ol' 70's and 80's exploitation flicks. So we have Christopher Lloyd gloriously overacting Jerry O'Connell playing a huge loveable Ahole with a very gruesome death Ving Rhames playing his usual badass self putting a boat propeller to good use and Elizabeth Shue playing concerned mother/cop.Seems like a fun dumb time right? Wrong! Elizabeth Shue has a teenage son and two even YOUNGER little brats and so much time is focused on these stupid children that it feels like the centerpiece for the film that's called PIRANHA 3D! So we see the teen run into Jerry O'Connell's Girls Gonsorry Wild Wild Girls character and they take the whiny puss in so he can show them the good spots around the lake. So the whole time the Wild Wild Girls crew is having a blast the kid is acting like a freaking goth sulking around in the corner and basically adding the suck factor to this movie. But don't worry it gets worse.Meanwhile the two even younger brats for some reason get stranded on some island in the lake and that's when you really feel your full money's worth for PIRANHA 3D when you watch two kids squabbling with each other on an island. See the main problem with the kids besides the fact that they're always horrible actors is that in movies like these there's absolutely 0 tension in it. We can see a bunch of teens on spring break get killed violently but if they're wittle childwen then suddenly it's too disturbing for modern audiences. I may just be a sick f*** but if I got to see both of the little kids getting torn to shreds underwater with a look of extreme pain and terror on their faces I would've been dying of laughter in the theater maybe in the future that'll happen in a big budget horror movie sometime but in the meantime we have to choke down kids being shoehorned into the movie for no reason. So that's all that really bothered me about Piranha 3D it seems like a small thing but you'd be suprised in how the screenwriters manage to shove these stupid kids into a script that really should have no place for kids. The teen himself wouldn't have been so bad if he didn't have any siblings and was just looking out for the girl he had a crush on.

Saw uncut version Tobin Bell One Saw too many!

Saw III (uncut version)
Saw III (uncut version) Read more...

Saw III Saw III definitly drives off emotions as one's story of tragedy and hatred leads to his lesson of forgiveness. Jeff certainly cannot get over his son's tragedy and has been living off of revenge. The family falls apart that leads to his wife making a moral decision. Jigsaw returns as he is getting closer to his end and initiates a game that would lead to an ultimate revaltion for Amanda. Saw III is awesome and worth the watch.
Best SAW Film Ever. SAW 3 is when they reach the absolute best plot in the series the first few movies are the best. SAW 1 was excellent and SAW 2 was great but SAW 3 is a masterpiece. Plot Jeff and Lynn which used to be a couple and are now divorced. They're both abducted Jigsaw is getting weaker from cancer and dying but Lynn is a doctor and must keep him alive or she'll also die. Jeff wants to get revenge on who was responsible for his sons death and is obsessed he was hit by a car but he can either forgive and save them or he'll also die. From the 2nd SAW Eric is still alive and makes it out by cutting his leg off. Also Amanda was the one working for Jigsaw and the one behind all of the Jigsaw traps. SAW 3 is an improvement over the first 2 better acting and plot. The Jigsaw Traps are better and more original more intense also.
Fantastic Great movie I picked this item up for a very good price and was shipped to my door within 4 days great shipping rate also. Very satisfied.
One Saw too many! Having avoided watching Saw 2 for six years I finally decided to be brave and see if it was any good. While some elements were memorable it was a disappointing experience for me. Undeterred I moved onto Saw 3 and promised myself I would give it a chance. I stuck to my word and goodness me what an experience it was!Saw 3 follows on directly from its predecessor tying up some loose ends notably with Detective Eric Matthews Donnie Wahlberg and Detective Kerry Dina Meyer who all end up victims of Jigsaw's sadistic games. The film then switches its focus to Jigsaw's latest game. With his apprentice Amanda Young Shawnee Smith in tow Jigsaw has her kidnap Lynn Denlon Bahar Soomekh with instructions that she must keep the bedridden Jigsaw Tobin Bell alive for the duration of the latest game or be killed by the intimidating collar round her neck which will fire shotgun bullets into her head! The game Jigsaw devises sees Jeff Angus Macfadyen a father seeking vengeance for the death of his son given the chance to face the man that killed his son but only by completing some tests along the way. The question is can Jeff complete the game and will Lynn Denlon keep Jigsaw alive until he does? The main focus of the film has Jeff face the only witness to his son's death who refused to testify in court and the judge that allowed the drunk driver off lightly. Jigsaw's test for Jeff is whether he can forgive those that contributed to his grief and desire for vengeance in the present. Though Jeff is an understandably emotional and griefstricken father he is also a bit slow when it comes to playing Jigsaw's games.
This Is Only A Test All I can say is WOW! I loved the third installment of the Saw franchise. It's packed with gore and scenes that will make you cringe and look away. Amongst this thickwithblood film we have another unique story with yet another climatic twist at the end. Saw III picks up where Saw II left off and if you haven't seen the first two Saw movies I strongly recommend that you watch them first. You'll see through flashbacks to the previous two Saw movies how Saw III fits together with the other two like a puzzle piece so all three are linked together perfectly.Amanda Shawnee Smith is back once again and she's vicious! She is a very strong and pivotal character in the film and Smith does an outstanding job of portraying the violent emotionally unstable Amanda. As Jigsaw's/John Kramer's accomplice she is helping him with his latest game but it's Amanda who is truly put to the test as you will see as the film progresses. John is bedridden hooked up to a heart monitor dying from cancer and using an oxygen mask to help him breathe however he uses his bleak situation as a tool for his game. Amanda kidnaps a woman named Lynn Bahar Soomekh a depressed pillpopping surgeon with marital problems and takes her to the building where John lays waiting. Lynn's test? Keep John alive until another person in the building completes his series of tests. But it won't be that easy.
Clearly vengeance only makes you angrier Jigsaw is back but his disease is defeating him little by little. Amanda's story is further detailed and how her relationship with John built over the last year or so in the timeline. The bathroom scene with Amanda and John was great to see as the set up for the game was in motion. How Amanda's emotions would get the best of her and killing Adam was sad to see. In the end Saw III was great and will lead into an awesome sequel with a bigger revalation.
Too heavy on story but pretty much makes up for it in the traps Saw 2 was *just* good enough to make me want to get the third one. Since it was like four bucks here for the Bluray I thought Why not?Short version It's the goriest Saw yet but still not as gory as some other flicks notably the remake of I Spit On Your Grave hey wanna watch fortyfive minutes of sadistic rape? Or do you prefer the girl's rather creative and tortuous revenge sequences that would make Jigsaw flinch? nor is it on the level of some of the classics like High Tension Suspiria or REC probably because Saw doesn't seem to take itself all that seriously but the other flicks do. Hostel also does the same thing which makes it more potentially disturbing. The entire Saw series is a bit cheesy really and takes a few too many creative liberties when it comes to plot and realism. At least the other films mentioned tried to look realistic but the Saw series is almost comical in comparison with far too much emphasis on all that crap about Amanda and other things virtually none of us cares about. Just get to the damned traps already we don't give a damn about Amanda or the prequel part or any of that garbage. Since when was Saw known for its masterful storytelling? Right never.
Saw 3
Great movie this is where they should have stopped. This movie was another great horror movie. This is just as good as the second one in my opinion. The brain surgery scene was one of the most disgusting scenes I have seen in a movie in a long time. This is where I believe the series should have stopped. This would have made a great trilogy but unfortunately Hollywood doesn't know how to quit when they are on top.
Saw III The downfall of Jigsaw After consecutively watching the entire Saw series over a recent weekend and LOVING it I decided that a single review with modified details could be used for all the films. Enjoy.A sadistic sociopath similar to the one in Se7en with an affinity for engineering likes to play lethal games forcing his victims those he deems unappreciative of life into an existential choice inside a million dollars worth of engineering and machinery.Saw THREE begins with ONE person trapped in an abandoned MEATPACKING PLANT. Forced to play the killer's Tobin Bell as John Jigsaw Kramer game JEFF Angus Macfadyen has to prove his will to live and his ability to FORGIVE. Meanwhile DET. ALLISON KERRY Dina Meyer OFFICER DANIEL RIGG Lyriq Bent and rugged veteran DET. MARK HOFFMAN Costas Mandylor are investigating as a team but ALLISON KERRY may be in too deep. As the law grows increasingly closer to ensnaring Jigsaw the game participant learns that AMANDA YOUNG Shawnee Smith may be an accomplice to his abduction and his situation provides a choice between VARIOUS TRAPS for OTHERS or guaranteed death for his family. To help his cause cryptic clues left via mini cassette tape lead him aka life perpetrator towards the precipice of twisted rehabilitation or a potential tomb.

** Not A Believalble Story. A Time Waster. Wow I finally got around to reading this book. Bought it months ago and let it sit. Something about it was unsettling. I read it in one weekend and consider it a ridiculous non believable read. I grew up Catholic dated a Mormon for awhile. I respect the Mormon people still but I do not respect this book. This book actually did some damage to my views of the Mormon Church. Don't waste your time.
great! I loved this book really an eye opener. Great insight into what Heaven may be like. Beauiful encouragin testimony.Lawrence Tooley is a great author.Loved it.
I Saw Heaven I Saw Heaven is a beautiful story of a man unexpectedly taken to the life after mortality. I am amazed as I review the narrow minded thinking of supposed Christians who seem to criticize anything that challenges their narrow beliefs as if their beliefs was the only truth. Lawrence Tooley who had the experience was not an active member of his church. He isn't a minister. He was a common guy who had a serious accident that took him unexpectedly to the world of spirits. His testimony when reviewed with the spirit of true faith and prayer lifts edifies and inspires those whose worldly cares get them down. There is so much more to this life and the next. Christ is at the headhe is in controlof our lives and this world. No matter how bad it gets in this life faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will comfort lift and clear our vision to a greater happiness. Critics come and go but Jesus said Love one another as I have loved you. I'm thankful for this testimony and look forward to the love and peace of the next life.
Excellent Book Excellent writing. This book was easy to read. I didn't want to put it down. I felt what the writer was trying to convey. It made excited about being able to go to heaven.
It was great but then lost credibility for me This story is just what it says. It's remarkable and I enjoyed reading it and found a lot of it inspiring. The thing I really have a problem with is the LDS emphasis. Now personally and I don't want to turn my review into a religious debate but I'm not Mormon nor do I agree whatsoever with Mormon philosophy or belief systems. My problem isn't a biased against Mormons problem. I think anytime a denomination of faith is brought in to bolster up the belief in the story it immediately loses its credibility for me. If the LDS'ism's had been left out and the story simply told for the experiences it was I would have raved about it without feeling a subtle attempt at my conversion.
Pleasant Reading I couldn't put this book down..very interesting..I wanted to know about what it looked like on the other side and the author does give some detailsit coincides with another book I read so I believe what it looks like on the other sidepeople should not be scared or afraid to die.
Review of I Saw Heaven A remarkable visit to the spirit world I didn't care for this book. It's not Bible based. It turned me off when skimming through the book I hardly saw the word God. I don't think I saw Jesus at all. I did see the word telepathy. I'm sorry. I just threw it out. I want Biblically based accounts of people who saw Heaven.
I Saw Heaven Excellent book. Very detailed view by the author of what heaven is like. Highly recommend it.
awesome book This book was very detailed and vivid. Your not going to be able to put it down the first time reading it. I really enjoyed it and encourage anyone to buy it.
Jesus is the answer I read the book my time in heaven which highlights that it is important to accept Jesus as your lord and savior. I thought about reading this I saw heaven but don't agree with the Mormon viewpoint that Jesus wasnt god reincarnated. God sent Jesus so that we may know god personally. On that note if you are looking for a life changing book read my time in heaven.

Blender 2 49 Scripting Michel Anders A great time saver.

    Blender 2.49 Scripting
    Blender 2.49 Scripting Read more...

A great time saver. I'm only using this book as a blender scripting reference but it has already saved me hours of frustration. No where else have I found a decent explanation of the problems I was having in the use of the import statement or the simple use of the reload command to solve these problems. The subject areas I have referenced have only lightly skimmed the scripting details but they have got me started and I can then soon find the relevant detail in the blender python API or else where on the net.If the author produces a new edition for the expected blender 2.5X API I will be purchasing it too but I suspect that the Blender 2.49 will be my work horse for some time yet.
Very useful book for Blender users This original review was first published on my personal Blog at []I've got recently from Packt Publishing an ebook copy of Blender 2.49 Scripting by Michael Anders. For those who don't already know Blender uses Python as its scripting language. With Python you can extend Blender capabilities and automate tasks that would be too tedious difficult or impossible to do by hand.
Good book but already outofdate While the book provides valuable information about scripting using the Blender API library under version 2.49 this library is soon to be obsolete. Version 2.55 currently in betatesting and soon to be released no longer support the Blender API interface to python and is replaced by the new bpy API. This book is applicable only to the current 2.49 Blender version and will soon become obsolete with the release of 2.55A similar reference to scripting under 2.55 using the bpy API would be very useful but this isn't that reference. So while it may be instructive learning the Blender API from this text it doesn't address the future Blender versions. As difficult as it can be staying current with the latest software this text provides no help achieving that goal.
With all the scripting changes . With all the recent scripting changes I'm kind of in the middle with this book it's the best scripting book I have for blender but if someone was going to learn blender scripting maybe waiting a few months and learning scripting on 2.5 might be better. So from a content on 2.49 scripting I'd give it a 5 Star but from someone learning scripting 2.5 seems to be the way to go but 2.5 is changing so much so should i just do the scripts in 2.49 [blender brain loop begins].When 2.5 stabalizes I will for sure purchase a update of this bookhoping by then the cuda support is done otherwise i'd just script directly to the cuda interface but that's such a hassle i guess i could script to old school blender [blender brain loop begins].
A good book that's long overdue This book review turned out to be quite easy. In short the book is ideal if you want to get up to speed with Python scripting in Blender 2.49.The lessons are presented in a clear stepbystep fashion with very practical applications. And the book covers quite a wide range of subjects. There's really not a whole lot more to say. Take a look at the Table of Contents and the sample chapter to confirm its value. If you're interested in Python scripting in Blender then I think you'll see that this is a definite musthave resource.BTW the book also provides a URL for downloading the code used in the book.Even though the Python API is changing in Blender 2.5 you'll still be ahead of the game by learning the current API. It will be quite some time before the Python API in Blender 2.5 is as complete as what's available in Blender 2.49.The author acknowledges the pending 2.5 version of Blender so hopefully there will be an edition released for Blender 2.5 when that becomes feasible. There's so much more to Blender when you consider the power of Python scripting in Blender and this book will get you off to a strong start in the right direction.
Adapt Blender To Your Needs With Blender 2.49 Scripting we go a step further with the popular open source modeling and rendering package Blender 3D scripting. And through scripting you will learn how to adapt and extend Blender to your needs.Remember that both Blender and Python run on Windows Linux and Mac. So what you learn with this book and others by Packt Publishing about Blender and Python can be applied to whatever OS you use in the future what is an obvious advantage. The author Michel J. Anders will tell us how to use the Python programming language to build scripts that can automate and extend the features of Blender.Michel Anders studied chemistry and physics and spent long time in computer simulations and worked as an IT manager for different companies and is now the manages the R&D department of Aia Software. To read this book you will need to have some slight knowledge of Python but you don't have to be an expert. It is more important that you understand the geometry and modeling part than the programming something that you already do if you understand and use Blender. In fact you are introduced to the Python builtin editor in chapter 1 and tells you how to write scripts and distribute them to others. You are told how to install Python and run simple scripts and integrate them into Blender menu system. This first chapter gives you an overview of what kind of things can be done with scripting and the structure of python modules in Blender. After this introduction the following chapter tell you how to do more exciting things like creating and editing objects with scripts design a GUI for the script group objects and change their parent with the example of a sunflower or run Blender from the command line and render scenes in the background. You also learn to make calculations like determining the volume of a mesh may be useful for 3D printing select different parts of that mesh or determine the center of mass of the object.Chapters 3 is about vertex groups bones and materials and how to control them with scripting. On the 4th chapter you are introduced to pydrivers and constraints. If this sounds strange for you you must know that they are employed to achieve things like restriction in bone movement joint limits or align objects through scripting. With Python you can also write scripts that are coordinated to act on every frame of an animation. Chapter 5 has a brilliant example of use that consists in a script that calculates the shape of the trace of caterpillar wheels and impress them on a terrain.Chapter 6 has more stunning examples this time a snake that swallows an egg and how it alters her shape as she eats it and a mesh animation depending on a sound that is being played. This part gets deeper in some previous lessons and studies the creation of complex actions combining all the previous knowledge.

About Face Odyssey American Warrior Essential professional reading for soldiers

About Face: The Odyssey of an American Warrior
About Face: The Odyssey of an American Warrior Read more...

Required reading for US military officers An absolutely superb candid account of David Hackworth's long careerin the US Army. His unflinching review of the mistakes made at everylevel from training to front line combat is breathtakingand appearsto still be true today. Last week 8 US GI's were KIA when their combatbasein an isolated valley surrounded by enemycontrolled mountainswas overrun by a large enemy force. That was in Afghanistan 2009 butit could easily have been Khe Sanh Vietnam 1968! As Hackworth statesrepeatedly lessons learned the hard way are simply not passed on tothose who need them. He notes the total one hour of training on mines atFt. Lewis with no demonstrator mines at a time when mines werecausing 50% of US casualties in Vietnam! This book should be requiredreading before anyone is commissioned as a Second Lieutenant but it isalso fascinating for those of us who enjoy military history.
Who Am I To Judge? After selling over one million copies of About Face who among us can truly judge the depth of this man's impact on our military and on our society? Possessed of a warrior's DNA this fighter walked away from the Army frustrated and disillusioned about our conduct in the Vietnam War. Make no mistake he must have seen something very real and very disturbing for him to do an About Face and resign. The book establishes David H. Hackworth's bona fides early on with a description of his early life and military career. A man committed to excellence and the well being of his troops he came to confront the blind face of upper echelon command in Vietnam and it wore him down and drove him out.Americans don't like to repeatedly hear all that went wrong in Vietnam. It's uncomfortable and embarrassing. But Hack had to bring out the truth as he saw it because for him it was about protecting his troops. He claims to have written About Face for fellow warriors past present and future. Based on his subsequent behavior of covering numerous wars as a correspondent after he left the Army and listening to his decidedly progrunt viewpoints I cannot dispute his assertion.Students of military history and leaders in business and the military would do well to consider the failures issues and ideas put forth in this book. Rest in peace Colonel and thank you for your insight!John E.
Hackworth Always Gets It Right! This is a great book and if you are in the military is a must read! If you are in combat it is a must read and a must reference book that should be taken with you into your theatre of operations. Colonel Hackworth has done it all and he's done it right! Learn at the hands of the Master.
Lessons learned I read this book when it was first published coincidentally a few years before I retired from the Army. I read it cover to cover in two or three sittings the door to my office in West Point's Thayer Hall closed so I wouldn't be disturbed.I've thought a lot about it in the years since. As a twotour veteran of Viet Nam who put this uniforms in the closet after Desert Storm I found countless lessons and insights the story of his rebuilding of a dispirited ineffective infantry battalion in Viet Nam for example is a classic of thoughtful leadership a hard campaign fought against bad habits and weak leadership. Viet Nam was my war Hack told the story well. But lately I've thought more about the longer term lessons learned. In particular I recall Hack's evocation of a particularly sad moment in the Army's history when the efforts to reduce the force after Korea led to a particularly brutal culling out of the officer ranks. Many reserves on active duty with less than 18 years' service there were many then were given the choice of eviction without pension or arbitrary reduction to enlisted grade for the rest of their service. My family was military and I remember this sad time I was in the seventh grade.Quite beyond the humiliation of many fine decorated soldiers service record meant nothing in this exercise it was just a numbers game it resulted in an entrenched cynicism in the survivors. Their Army had slaughtered its own morale and it was during the Presidency of Ike one of the Army's own. The result was a generation of officers without a sense of loyalty to the Army because the Army was not loyal to itself.
Above the Rest About Face is an extraordinary book. It's not only the best book I've read about a soldier it is the best book I've read period. I say that because it posesses an emotional reality that flat out inspires. It provided me with strength to straighten out my life and go to law school at fifty years old.
Required Reading for Military and Politicians When the nation's most highly decorated soldier speaks up everyone should listen. Those serving in the military of all ranks and especially the policy makers who put our young men and women at risk.Hackworth served from 19451971. The title is due to his change of heart from being a gungho hard charging soldier who did not question the Army to one who became disallusioned and dared to speak out. No institution corporate or government likes criticism. Hackworth showed his bravery not only in battle but having the courage to speak out and challenge the statusquo. This is a fanstastic read well written humourous touching sad moving Hack captures all of the emotions and sacrifices a soldier makes during a career and the isolation he endures when he turned against the military and spoke out.An excellent narrative about an interesting man in interesting times. His advice should be heeded by all who want to be true leaders those who are willing to lead by example listen to the troops and do what is right no matter the cost. We could use a lot more David Hackworths in all walks of life.
Essential professional reading for soldiers It is almost 20 years to the day since I first read this book as a cadet at RMC Duntroon and it is difficult for me to think of any other single book that influenced how I viewed my profession as much as 'About Face'. Not only were Hackworth's descriptions of smallunit combat and command vivid and gripping but his views on what leaders should do how they should set their priorities and train and lead those under their command not to mention the consequences when the basics were not addressed were if anything more resonant and memorable. Hackworth was an advocate and champion of the 'soldiers soldier' focused on the basics of smallunit leadership and development by personal example and his account of how the 'big army' institutional biases of the postWW2 US Army deviated from this ideal and encouraged short term careerist and 'zero fault' mentalities that caused so much pain and anguish in Vietnam was not only convincing but also painted a picture that I am sure I have seen reflected at times in my own army since. With the benefit of hindsight it is possible to identify a few limitations in 'About Face' that the reader should consider Hackworth's views are obviously highly coloured by personal experience and the further away he gets from his personal experience and area of expertise which is really small unit training leadership and tactics his observations become a bit less valuable which is apparent towards the end of the book.
An honor to read Opinions vary on Colonel Hackworth's political views but nobody questions his integrity and bravery. About Face is an extremely thorough autobiographical look at Hack's career from his humble beginnings as an underage recruit in the Merchant Marines all the way to his resignation. It is a fascinating journey. Hack had a way with words that only a grunt can truly appreciate. He was the true master of guerrilla warfare in the US Army. His courage in battle sometimes verged on foolhardiness but is was unquestionable.Hack will be sorely missed by many of us. I recommend this book highly for anyone with an interest in leadership military history Korea Vietnam or just the journalist David Hackworth. It gives a well rounded picture of what built him and who he was as a man. This book is a must read.
about face My son had it taken away in Ranger Training! But was enjoying what he read book in good condition.
About Face Excellent book. I served briefly under David Hackworth and wish i had got to know him better.
